Remixes

For a while now, I’ve been playing with the notion of remixing existing works in order to focus them on the elements I found most relevant, and which I found I had to dig much too hard to find. I expect I might add more of these when I find more books worthy of remixing.

Bootstrapping Complexity – Kevin Kelly’s “Out Of Control” remixed [.html]
[.pdf – 155 pages]
– Remix is a big word here, since I mostly just cut out half the chapters of the book to make much shorter book, more narrowly focused on the idea of self-organising systems.

Gentle remix of Robert Pirsig’s ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’ [.html]
[.pdf – 55 pages]
– An attempt to distill Pirsig’s thoughts on quality, technology and design in a more succinct and less personal form.

Cluetrain Manifesto – Remixed [.html]
[.pdf version – 10 pages]
– Highlighting central excerpts of the book to make a new, shorter Cluetrain Manifesto. Fewer bullets, more description.

Rework – Remixed [.html]
[.pdf version – 1 page]
– An easy read made even easier, Fried and Heinemeier Hansson’s alternative business experiences condensed to one page on how to make your ideas reality.
